HALRIC Research Internship Programme

The HALRIC research internship programme offers Bachelor and Master students the opportunity to get insights into research done in the field of Life Science, involving Advanced Research Infrastructures, and to gain international experience. Interdisciplinary internship positions for students who want to explore infrastructures, such as MAX IV, ESS, DESY and European XFEL, as well as cutting-edge complementary infrastructures at the Universities and Hospitals in the ÖKS-Hamburg Region, in the context of Life Science are very welcome.

Hosts of the internship position are early-career researchers (e.g. PhD candidates, PostDocs) employed at one of the HALRIC partner institutions. Eligible internship candidates are students enrolled at one of the HALRIC partner universities. Students must apply for an internship in a different country to their registered institute.

The duration of the internship can be 2-6 months, starting at any time between now and March 2026.

Objectives of the HALRIC Research Internship programme are

  • To provide promising students (interns) with the opportunity to gain research experience in an exciting project of their choice.
  • To provide early career researchers (hosts) with additional skills (intercultural skills, language skills, personal management competencies) which are of prime importance in the global workplace.
  • To raise awareness amongst the next generation of researchers of the value of international cooperation within the ÖKS-Hamburg Region.
  • To support high quality research projects.
