Senior Lecturer in Virology

Position

Permanent position as Senior Lecturer in Virology based at the Department of Translational Medicine or Department of Laboratory Medicine. The departmental affiliation will be decided at the time of the appointment. There is an opportunity to combine the position with clinical work, and this will also be decided at the time of the appointment.

Duties

The position relates to strengthening and bridging strategically important research in the area of medical experimental virology at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct their research activities at the Lund University Virus Centre (LUVC), a research centre that is now established in newly opened, modern premises dedicated to virological research and includes laboratories for experimental virology, as well as an integrated safety laboratory (biosafety level 3). The LUVC has an overall aim to promote cooperation between researchers, healthcare, industry and society in order to increase knowledge of viral diseases and contribute to the development of new prophylactic, therapeutic and diagnostic tools. The successful candidate will thus have the opportunity to work in a dynamic research environment focusing on virology. A key element of the duties is to conduct and develop nationally and internationally competitive research in experimental virology, with an aim to supplement existing research at the LUVC.

Teaching and development of first, second and third-cycle courses, as well as postdoc courses, is also an important part of the duties. The duties also include leadership and administration, internal and/or external elected positions and external engagement.

A combined position would include work at Region Skåne, Clinical Microbiology, with duties in the area of virological diagnosis. Other duties may also be included.
